Hattie Mae Ratcliff Myers, 74, of Hattiesburg, passed away on September 9, 2016, at Forrest General Hospital. She was born on July 28, 1942, to Charles W. Ratcliff and Essie Mae Ratcliff Slay in Hattiesburg, MS.
Hattie was a graduate of Rowan, Class of 1960. She attended Jackson State University and received her accounting degree at ITT in Youngstown, OH. Her lifelong career was a bookkeeper, where she retired from Park Vista Retirement Home. Hattie was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Youngstown, OH, and a current member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. She was active in her community and volunteered her services to her church and various organizations.
Hattie is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Johnnie Bea Slay and Viola Ratcliff; two nephews, Damon Ratcliff and Akiba Smith. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Clarence Ray Myers; five children: Kevin Myers, Essonya Myers, Jamey Myers, Denise Myers and Joseph Ratcliff; nine grandchildren: Brianna, Keveeda, Kevin Jr., Shealla, Joshua, Malcolm, Chase, Brendan and Aliya; three great grandchildren; Ezekiah, Laniya, and Legend; six siblings: Lewis Slay, Bernadine Ruff, Mattie Slay, Toyia Slay, John Slay III and Frank Ratcliff; one aunt, Martha Bea Taylor; one uncle, Sandy Ratcliff; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be Saturday, September 17, 2016, at New Bethel Baptist Church 1:00pm.
