Joshua Clayton Bell, 45, of Brooklyn, passed away on August 16, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1981, in Clarksville, TN. Joshua graduated from Forrest County Agricultural High School and worked as a painter. Joshua is preceded in death by his father, Joseph “Joey” Bell; grandparents: Billie Jean Moody, George and Thelma Shattles and Elizabeth Bell. He survived by his daughter and her husband Madelyn and Brandon VonRader; mother and stepfather, Jeanie and Gerald “Bull” Ezell; sister, Brandy Leslie; four aunts: Debbie Shattles Cook, Diane Shattles, Lisa Shattles and Mareen Bell; one niece and two nephews, Layla, Braxton and Shaydon Leslie; along with a host of cousins, extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a church in Brookly at a later date.

Charlotte Virginia Gentry Gwin, of Hattiesburg, MS, joined her husband in the eternities on August 12, 2026, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends. An educator by occupation and temperament, Charlotte dedicated her life to teaching the English language and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was devoted to her students, her family, and her Savior. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 50 years, Charlotte tirelessly shared the messages of the Savior through her words and, most importantly, through her example of Christlike love and service. She incorporated the Gospel into the very fabric of her family and instilled a love of God and His Plan of Salvation that continues through the generations of her posterity. Charlotte was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. She went on to teach high school English in Florida and later returned to U.S.M. to obtain her Masters Degree and teach at the English Language Institute, where she assisted non-native English speakers in preparing for university-level education. She carried her love of language beyond the classroom through poetry, letters, speeches, holiday programs for church services, and an insatiable love of reading. Her creativity knew no bounds as she created stories for her grandchildren and brought Christmas to life at the Festival of Trees in Cedar City, UT during her retirement years. Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband and eternal companion, Dr. Stanford Payne Gwin and her parents, Hobart Wales Gentry and Marjorie Louise Buck Gentry. She is survived by her children, Stan (Kristi), Stephen (Wendy), Brian (Stacey), and Elizabeth (Jeremy); 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Bart (Karen) and Debbie; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and others she loved dearly. Services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2502 Old Hwy 24, Hattiesburg, MS 39402.
