IN LOVING MEMORY OF

BERNICE BROWN LARKIN

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; and

a gracious woman speaks with wisdom.”

— Proverbs 3:16

With profound love and heartfelt remembrance, we celebrate the life of

BERNICE BROWN LARKIN, age 91, who peacefully departed this life on

June 30, 2026, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

She was born on December 20 in DeKalb, Kemper County, Mississippi,

to the late John and Roxy Brown. Bernice graduated from Depress High

School and lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and

unwavering devotion to her family.

A faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, she found joy in

worship, fellowship, and service to the Lord, drawing strength from her

faith throughout her life’s journey.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.C. “Sam” Larkin,

who passed in March 2023 following 71 years of marriage.

Bernice cherished her family above all else and took great pride in her

children and generations that followed. She was blessed to witness five

generations of her family.

She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including playing checkers, working

word puzzles, using her Facebook tablet, and watching sports of all kinds.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children:

Odell Graves, Larry McNair, Patricia Larkin, Bonnie Larkin Brown and Tony,

Annie and Tony Carter, Willie Larkin Jr., Michael Larkin and Wendy,

Paul Larkin, Sherry Larkin, and Melinda and Arthur Gamble Jr.;

approximately 80 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and

great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Roxy Brown;

her sisters Lula Mae Steele, Lucille Bell, Mary Eatman, and Leona Watts;

and her brother J.C. Brown Sr.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Jennifer Bowen,

Frances Pringle, and Ervin Eatman for their love, care, and support.

Her life was a testament to faith, love, and endurance. She now rests in

eternal peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
