Cynthia Rena Venson “Cece”

On June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, Cynthia Rena Venson went

home to be with the Lord. Born on December 13, 1972, Cynthia lived a life marked by

grace, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her gentle spirit, warm presence, and

steadfast love touched every person blessed to know her.

For 34 years, she shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her husband, Dexter

Linelle Venson. Together they built a home filled with laughter, devotion, and a deep

commitment to family. Cynthia was the proud and devoted mother of two sons,

Diamonte Venson and Devin Venson, and a loving motherinlaw to Stephanie Venson.

Her family was her heart, and she poured herself into them with patience, wisdom, and

a love that never wavered.

One of Cynthia’s greatest joys was being “Cece” to her three grandchildren — Kingsley

Venson, Noah Venson, and Addie-Ruth Venson — who brought her immeasurable

happiness. (Although, her siblings called her “Pookie!”) The way she lit up around them,

the tenderness in her voice, and the joy she found in every moment with them will

forever be treasured memories.

Cynthia also shared a special bond with her goddaughter, Jordyne Morris, whom she

loved dearly. Their relationship was filled with affection, guidance, and joy, and Jordyne

held a cherished place in Cynthia’s heart.

A devoted servant of God, Cynthia was an active and faithful member of her church.

She accepted Christ in 1991 at The Church of God in Hollandale, MS, where she was a

devoted member for a number of years. Cynthia later served at The Church of God in

Prentiss, MS and The Church of God in Columbia, MS. For the last several years, she

served at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS. Cynthia was a prayer warrior,

known for speaking scripture over her family, her friends, her students, and anyone in

need of encouragement. Her faith was not only her foundation — it was her way of

loving others. She lived with humility, kindness, and a quiet strength that reflected the

heart of Christ.

Cynthia also served her community with passion and purpose for more than 33 years in

education. She worked as an educator, intervention specialist, lead teacher, and

ultimately as a 9th grade principal, shaping countless young lives with her compassion,

her high expectations, and her belief in every student’s potential. Her colleagues

respected her leadership; her students adored her; and her impact will continue to ripple

through the community for generations.

She is survived by her husband, Dexter; her sons, Diamonte’ (Stephanie) and Devin

(fiancé – Michaela); her grandchildren, Kingsley, Noah, and Addie Ruth; her

goddaughter, Jordyne; her siblings Johnnie “Mack” Mackin, Sr. (Sylvia), Vivian Mackin,

Charles Mackin (Sabine), Erma Savannah (Danny, Sr.), Lorese Williams (Gary),

Youlinda Thompson, and Yvonne Mackin; and a host of nieces, nephews, family

members, friends, students, and church family who will forever cherish her memory. She

was preceded in death by her father, Rev. TR Clay; mother, Lillie Wilson; and sister,

Gwendolyn Vallery. Though her earthly journey has ended, her family takes comfort in

knowing she is at peace and rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

Funeral services honoring Cynthia’s life will be held at Temple Baptist Church in

Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on Saturday, June 6th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m.,

followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
