Mark Stephen Pendergrass, 65, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on May 27, 2026, after a short illness.

Born on November 23, 1960, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Mark lived a life devoted to his family, his work, and

the people he loved. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and spent most of his

professional career serving the citizens of Mississippi through his work with the State of Mississippi.

After retiring, Mark found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandson.

When Alex was a toddler, Mark loved their time together watching cartoons, having dance parties, and

creating memories that brought smiles to both of them. He treasured every moment spent with those

closest to him.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Karen Nicholson Pendergrass of Mobile, Alabama; his children,

Stephanie Windham of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, June Pendergrass of Portland, Oregon, and Matthew

Pendergrass of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; his cherished grandson, Alex Windham of Hattiesburg, Mississippi;

brother, Clay Pendergrass of Gatlinburg, TN; and Jimmy Pendergrass of Littleton, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and June Pendergrass, and his brother, David Pendergrass.

Mark will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, and his generous spirit. He

possessed a sharp wit and a wonderfully mischievous sense of humor that could brighten any room and

leave those around him laughing. Thoughtful and practical by nature, Mark believed in making the most of

what he had, yet he never hesitated to give his time, support, and love to those who needed it. His

kindness, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends, and in the countless stories that will continue to

be shared about him for years to come.

A memorial service celebrating Mark's life will be held on June 20, 2026, at Forrest Funeral Home in

Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service

at 11:00 a.m.
