Vickie Ruth (Chasteen) Cady, 77, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on May 26, 2026. Born on June 22, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, Vickie lived a life marked by deep faith, selfless love, and joyful service to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Cleo Chasteen, and her sister, Cathy Sears.

Vickie is survived by her beloved husband of more than 55 years, Bruce Cady, the love of her life and faithful partner throughout all seasons. Together they built a home fi lled with laughter, compassion, faith, and unwavering devotion to family. She is also survived by her children, Melissa (John) Stephens and Daniel (Rachel) Cady; her cherished grandchildren Brendan, Paige, Sarah, Regan, Brycen, and Nathan; and her siblings Tim (Toni) Chasteen, Darryl (Cheryl) Chasteen, and Terry (Susan) Chasteen.

As the daughter of missionary parents, Vickie spent much of her childhood in the Central African Republic, an experience that shaped her compassionate spirit and lifelong love for people. During her teenage years, she lived with her grandparents, whose love and guidance remained meaningful throughout her life. She treasured the time she spent at Centropolis Baptist Church during her adolescence and carried a deep love for her church family throughout her life. Over the years, she continued to serve faithfully in every church she called home, dedicating herself to choir, children’s church, and countless children’s programs.

Vickie graduated from Raytown South High School and later attended school to become a medical assistant, dedicating several years of her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse. She loved being a mother and poured herself wholeheartedly into raising her two beautiful children. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family. Later in life, she found joy in caring for children through her home daycare, where many little lives were touched by her warmth and kindness.

She treasured time with family above all else and especially delighted in being “Noni” to her grandchildren. Whether on cherished family vacations to Colorado or enjoying peaceful ocean trips, Vickie created lasting memories with those she loved. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel special and spent her life giving of herself freely, always wanting everyone around her to be happy—especially her beloved Bruce.

Above all, Vickie loved the Lord. In her later years, she often reflected on the importance of being “Mary, not Martha,” fi nding peace simply sitting at the feet of Jesus. Her favorite verse, Philippians 1:21, beautifully reflected the faith by which she lived: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Vickie looked forward with hope to her heavenly home and the mansion prepared for her by Jesus. Her family fi nds comfort in knowing she is now fully healed, free from pain and tears, and resting in eternal joy with her Savior.

Her life was a beautiful testimony of love, faith, service, and grace, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
