Mrs. Rosie “Rita” Sims was born to the late Mrs. Jessie M. McGee and the late Mr. James Sims Sr. in Hattiesburg, MS, on August 2, 1955.

She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Priest Creek Missionary Baptist Church of Hattiesburg, MS. She later became a member of New Zion United Methodist Church of Starkville, MS, under Tyrone Stallings.

Mrs. Rosie graduated from Earl Travillion High School in 1973. She went on to attend Cosmetology School in California, where she later graduated and obtained her hair license. She worked as a hairstylist at Little Eddie’s Beauty Salon in Hattiesburg, MS, and dedicated over 30 years of her life to her career as a Supervisor at Days Inn, where she later retired from.

Mrs. Rosie enjoyed life and loved being the life of the party. She was unapologetically herself in every stage of her life. She enjoyed jiving and joking with others, fishing, playing bingo, nurturing flowers, spending time with loved ones and shopping.

Mrs. Rosie departed this life on December 31, 2025, at Carrington Nursing Home in Starkville, MS, surrounded by loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Merl McGee and James Sims Sr.; two brothers, Troy Brazile and Johnny Brazile; one grandchild, Kyree Sims. Mrs. Rosie leaves to cherish her precious memories to her three children: Samuel “Shawn” Sims (Sabrina) of Detroit, MI, Angela “Nicky” Sims- Bell (George), of Starkville, MS, and James “Gary” Sims (Maria) of Dublin, OH; one sister, Janice Harthorne of Hattiesburg, MS; four brothers: James Sims, Jr. (Vern), Eddie Brazile, Dale Brazile, and Leon McCullum, all of Hattiesburg, MS; one aunt, Hazel Dianna Pack and one uncle, Matthew Wayne Kelly both of Hattiesburg, MS; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a special friend and companion, Robert Davis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
