Don Adamson, 93, of Hattiesburg, MS, was born on February 12, 1932, in Paw Paw, Michigan.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Sybil Adamson, his sister Audrey Ann Rieder (George), and is survived by his wife, Miriam (Mim) Moore Adamson, his children, Debbie Hammack (John), Doug Adamson (Patti), and Cindy Gilliland (Jeff); his grandchildren Kathryn Evans (James), JD Adamson (Tony), Scott Gilliland (Raegan), Christy Moore (Bryan), Sarah Anne Murphy (Garrett), and Jake Gilliland; great-grandchildren Spencer, Parker, Rachel, Andie Jane, Evelyn, Joshua, Jude, Morgan, and Anne Elizabeth, and many, cherished nieces and nephews.

Don grew up in Paw Paw and Owosso, MI, the son of a police officer and schoolteacher. He enlisted in the Navy during his junior year at Michigan State University and made his way to San Diego, CA. There, he met the love of his life, Mim, a naval officer from House, MS. They married while on leave in Yuma, AZ, on November 11, 1954. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year.

After leaving the service, Don completed his degree at Mississippi State University and graduated in 1960. He then joined IBM, working for the company across several locations until his retirement in 1987. Don and Mim spent the first years of their retirement on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA, before settling in Hattiesburg to be closer to family.

He enjoyed singing and was active in the church choir wherever he lived, from his early days in San Diego to Main Street United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg. He was also an avid traveler, going on dozens of trips with Mim across the US and to over 30 countries.

His biggest pride, however, was his family. Don loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely. He cherished time spent with them, whether it was out on the lake, going on memory-making trips, conversations around the table, or playing games late into the night.

Services for Don Adamson will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, at Forest Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with the service at 11:00 a.m.
