Angus Calvin “Cool” Harris was born on September 23, 1961 to the Late Louis and Erma Harris in Laurel, Mississippi. Angus departed this life on August 13, 2023.
Angus was the third born out of 8 children. He grew up attending church at St. Paul Methodist Church. In his later years, he sung with a men’s quartet. Angus attended Sumrall High School, where he was a part of the track and field team and the basketball team. He graduated from there with honors. He then attended Pearl
River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi, where he received his associates degree. He later attended Antonelli Community College where he received a certification in graphic and CAD design. Throughout his life, he held positions of an architect, carpenter, and maintenance supervisor. He was a local businessman, owning and operating two businesses called “The Hotspot” and “Harris Enterprise” for several years.
Angus married Netha Edmon on October 2, 1985. Together they raised three children, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Angus was a kind hearted man who, just like his nickname, held a “cool” demeanor. He loved to live life, spend time with his family, and give back to his community through acts of service.
Angus is proceeded in death by his parents; Louis (2012) and Erma Harris (2023); his brother, Louis D. Harris, Jr. (1991); and his sister, Beverly Harris-Edmon (2021). Angus leaves to cherish his memories, his three children, Laketta (Demetrius) Brooks, Julian Harris, and Jovana (Terrance) Harris-Bembry; four grandchildren, Deja Parker, Maleek Fairley, Jayden Myers, and Londyn Brooks; one great grandchild, Princeton Parker; five siblings, Gloria Anita Garner, Julius Ceaser Harris, David Allen Harris, Vicki Sharon Harris, and Gwendolynn Delores (Herbert) Harris-Cocroft; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
