Deforrest Darrell Thompson left this life on Saturday,
March 11, 2023. Deforrest was the youngest of three boys.
He was a native of Biloxi, MS. He was a graduate of
Biloxi High School where he was a football standout.
Because of his athletic abilities he earned a full-ride four
year scholarship to attend the University of Southern
Mississippi. While attending USM he met the love of his
life, Sandra Leniese Thompson née Davis. After they
married, Deforrest left to establish a home for them in
the San Francisco Bay Area. They would live in
California and raise their family for the next 25 years. In
2007, they returned to Mississippi to take care of his
mother-in-law. They were married for 40 years and had
two children, Jelisa Alessandra Thompson and Mychal
Deforrest Thompson.
Deforrest was a die-hard Raiders fan—win or lose he
never gave up on them. Music was a huge part of his life.
Four Play was one of his favorite groups. Deforrest was a
good man, a good neighbor, friend, and the best father
and husband.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladyse
Salerno, grandmother, Irene McGill, father, Willie
Johnson, and brother, Kevin Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandra, daughter
Jelisa Thompson (Phillip McDaniel fiancé), son, Mychal
Thompson, 1 brother, Tony Thompson. 4 Sisters-In-Law,
3 brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
