Obituary for Linda "Karol" Knight Jackson

Mrs. Linda Carol was born in Moselle, MS on October 31st, 1946, to Allen Lawson and Mary Ellen Prince.
During much of her early life, she resided in the Queensburg neighborhood of Laurel, MS where she was
a faithful member of Queens Chapel Baptist Church.
She attended Sandy Gavin Elementary School and then graduated from Oak Park High School in 1965.
It was there she met and married George Jackson Sr. in February 1965. Linda Carol lived in Europe for
several years during George’s military service. She was quietly a “Texas Girl” after having lived in EL
Paso, Texas for several years before returning to her roots here in Mississippi.
Linda Carol was proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years, George J. Jackson Sr.; her parents, Allen
Lawson and Mary Ellen Prince, her sisters Lorraine Prince and Marsha Prince (Hales), and her beloved
grandmother, Mrs. Lulu C. Knight.
Carol Jackson passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 4, 2023, at the
age of 76.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her son, George James Jackson Jr. of Fort Worth Texas;
granddaughter, Ashley Marisa Jackson, of McKinney, Texas; sisters Chloe Davis and Rosemary Rice both
of Laurel, Mississippi; beloved uncles Charles Prince of Warren, Ohio and Thomas Prince of Cleveland,
Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2729 Oak Groove
Rd., Hattiesburg, Mississippi at 11:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to American
Alzheimer’s Association.
