Francis Joseph Zipple, 97, passed away on January 19, 2023, at Asbury Hospice House, Hattiesburg, MS.
Born in Lansing, Michigan, on July 17, 1925, Francis was educated in Michigan, Ohio, and Rome, Italy.
Francis was predeceased by his parents, Karl George Zipple and Anna Frances Malik Zipple, three
brothers, Karl Zipple, Matthew Zipple, and John Zipple, and one sister, Annette Zipple, RSCJ. He is
survived by his wife, Kathy Yadrick; son, Jeremy Zipple, SJ; daughter, Kristin Zipple-Shedd (RJ),
grandchildren Oliver, Clara, and Toby, and numerous nieces and nephews. Francis spent his life in
service of others and the Catholic Church. Highlights included 25 years of service in the Diocese of
Lansing, Michigan, founding Starting Point II, a nonmedical detox center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, helping
create The University of Southern Mississippi’s first faculty staff assistance program, and raising Jeremy
and Kristin who have followed in his life of service, including Jeremy’s vocation as a Jesuit priest and
Kristin’s vocation as a mother, social worker and non-profit attorney.
