Obituary for Antonio "Tony" Jackson

Antonio “Tony” Jackson, 67, a resident of Hattiesburg, Mississippi departed this earth to his
mansion in heaven. He was born on February 2, 1955, to Hughey and Earlene Jackson in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He attended Hattiesburg High School. He was an employee of Pat
Harrison Waterway District for 45 years. Tony’s faith in God begun when he became a member
of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
Tony was a loyal and dedicated father and grandfather to his children, daughter Alexia, son
Chris and grandson Hendrix. He was always making sure they had everything they needed. Tony
was kindhearted and always willing to make sure everyone was good. He was known for
smoking ribs, turkeys, etc. for the community at large. He did not hesitate to help anyone. He
was truly God’s humble servant always putting the needs of others before himself. He
understood God’s blessings in his life therefore was a blessing to all. He was preceded in death
by his paternal grandparents Hughey and Martha Jackson, maternal grandparents Joe and Rosie
Carter Johnson, parents Hughey and Earlene Jackson and sister Trudy Gray Lewis.
Tony leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life Barbara Jackson of Birmingham, AL,
daughter, Alexia Jackson, son Christopher Johnson, grandson Hendrix Riley Hayes-Johnson. One
brother Kim (Sheila) Jackson, Clinton, MS, one sister Cynthia “Pennie” Hill, Little Rock, AR.
Nieces and Nephews: Semeria Hill, Omaria Gray, Roderick Austin, Jonathan Jackson. His aunts,
Mrs. Frankye Johnson and Mrs. Asalene Mack. Along with a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins,
nieces and nephews that will also cherish Tony’s memory.
