Mrs. Louise Bland

Mrs. Louise Collins Bell Bland was born in Hattiesburg Mississippi to the parents of Lizzie and Richard Collins Sr. with this union six children were born. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death and also two of her daughters.
Mrs. Bland accepted Christ at an early age and joined Antioch Missionary Baptist church where she remained until her death. She attended Third Ward Elementary and graduated from American high school in Chicago.
Mrs. Louise was married to Bert Bell Sr. to this union five children were born. Later, she married Reverend Johnson Bland.
Mrs. Bland was employed as a domestic worker, beautician and nurse's aide. She was very proud of her Missionary adventures which helped her meet so many people. Her experiences also help people identify their Christian duty and achieve many goals throughout life. Her kind words and random acts of kindness really impacted the lives of many.
To prepare herself for this wonderful important task she received several certificates from the Mississippi Baptist Seminary. Some of her certificates include the Mississippi Baptist Sunday school diploma, a Christian education diploma, an English Bible theology diploma and many vacation Bible school certificates.
As a dedicated servant of God, Mrs. Louise Collins Bell Bland has probably been actively involved in the Antioch Choir, The Mission and Pastor's aide auxiliaries. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher, vacation l Bible School Teacher, an occasional Sunday School Pianist and presented many inspirational programs at a local Convalescent Home in the city. Mrs. Louise served as a Director of the Youth Usher board program at Pinehurst Baptist church where her second husband, Reverend Johnson Bland, pastored.
This faithful committee leader enjoyed helping people build self-esteem levels and was often called an unsung hero. She received many awards and recognition throughout her life. Honors such as the Key to the City and Proclamation from the City of Hattiesburg as well as a Proclamation from the State of Mississippi.
Her many mottos were “ If I can help someone“ and “ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Mrs. Bland was very proud of celebrating her 100th birthday on the Today television program, being a special guest on the television program called Wheel of Fortune, having her picture displayed on the World known Smuckers Jelly Jar, featured in our local Impack Newspaper as a community leader, a Life Member of the NAACP, an Honorary Member of the Ladies of Leisure Club, a Pine Belt Prayer Band Warrior and her religious trip to Israel where she visited many places Jesus walked and taught also the children’s book that her daughter Dorothy wrote, Grammie Magic Words explaining her a beautiful Christian journey as well as being a loving devoted wife, mother and friend to many.
She leaves to cherish her legacy a host of loving family members, including 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grands, as well as one daughter, Dorothy Lucas, two sons, William Bill(Grace) and Bert Bell, Jr.(Joyce).
