Obituary for Kenneth Jack McMillin

Kenneth Jack McMillin, 81, of Hattiesburg, MS passed away on August 2, 2022. Ken was born on
May 11, 1941 in Henderson, Texas. He was raised in Oil City, MS, graduating from Anding High School in
1959. He spent the next three years serving in the U.S. Army, including serving in Berlin during the time
the Berlin Wall was built. After his time of service, he worked in the oil field to save money to attend his
beloved Mississippi State University. He graduated in 1967 with an accounting degree. After graduation
he worked for the U.S Army Audit Agency, where he worked in the Republic of Panama and Vietnam. He
spent the next 31 years working as a Federal Agent with the U.S. Customs Service.
Ken was an avid reader and enjoyed many years of golfing with friends. He loved sporting
events, especially Mississippi State and the Atlanta Braves. He was a staunch supporter of those he
loved and always showed up early for years to swim meets, piano recitals, baseball games and any place
his loved ones were.
In 1976, Ken married Delila Warrington, the love of his life. They remained happily married until
her death in 2019 and he looked forward to reuniting with her in Heaven. He is preceded in death by his
parents and siblings. He is survived by his daughters Jacqueline Long (Casey), Paige Hand (Shane), Jamie
Barthelemy (Tony Velazquez), Angie Shorter (Brent) and his twelve grandchildren Walker Long, Hudson
Long, Tatum Long, Anna Grace Hand, Shelby Hand, Laurel Hand, Jacob Barthelemy, Kennedy
Barthelemy, Lindsey Barthelemy, Cayden Shorter, Brennon Shorter, and Kynlee Shorter.
Services will be held at Forrest Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS on Saturday, August 6 th .
Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm with service following at 5:30 pm.
