Obituary for Rita Marie Redding

Rita Marie “Meeky” Montegut Redding was born on May 30, 1973 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Alex Carter and Rhonda Montegut Anthony. Rita grew up in New Orleans, LA and attended St. Maurice Catholic Elementary, Charles J Colton Middle School, John F. Kennedy Senior High. She graduated from Joseph S. Clerk Senior High in New Orleans, LA in 1996.
Rita studied Political Science at Meridian Community College. Rita was a member of the American Bar Association of over ten. She was a CDL truck driver for over 20 years. She drove for some of the top of the line trucking companies such as (Elliott Truck Line, A&R Logistics, Schneider Trucking, KLLM Transport and Quality Carrier). Rita became an entrepreneur when her Redding Trucking Company (General Freight Trucking) established in 2002 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was a Black America Self-Certified Small Disadvantage Women-Owned Business.
Rita’s legacy of love continues and will be cherished by: Her parents, Alex Carter of New Orleans, LA and Rhonda Montegut Anthony of Hattiesburg, MS, her three children; Paul Montegut (Ashley), Lake Charles, LA, Ja’La-Quette Aubrianne “Jelly” Montegut, Hattiesburg, MS. and Mone’ Olivia-Shaye James Esters ( Matthew), Lewisville, TX, one Grandmother; Rita Washington, Alvin, TX, her companion of 13 years; Maurice (Pee-wee) Latrelle Nelson, Hattiesburg, MS. two sibling;: Roy H. Philson Jr., Las Vegas, NV and Rhonda Montegut-Jordan (Ivory), Harvey, LA, four grandchildren; Louis James, Jarrett Charles Nathan Montegut, Janel Carrlett Rose Johnson and Maximilien Le’Robespierre Esters, two uncles; Arthur Montegut Washington (Brenda), Slidell, LA, Herbert Charles Jones (Roiann), Federalway, WA., three aunts; Donna J Pierre-Turner (Eddie), Slidell, LA, Bronnicia Jones Beach (Michael), Baton Rouge, La, and Tracy Dawn Jones Russell (Neuby), Rosharon, TX, Godfather: Kevin Washington, New Orleans, LA, and one great aunt: Henrietta Washington, New Orleans LA.
Rita was proceeded in death by her son Aubry Montegut, Godmother Eunice Jefferson, and her baby Skye”Pooh Pooh” Redding (dog).
She leaves to cherish two nieces: Elizabeth Philson and Gabrielle Hufford, one great nieces Ta’Nyah Danielle Marie Ellis and one great nephew Tahj Taveon Fitzgerald Ellis, her babies Pie and Pudding (dogs) and a host of other cousins, family members, and friends.
