Lonnie was born in Laurel Mississippi on March 31,1959
to the union of Dorthory Edwards and Robert Earl Nixion.
Lonnie was adopted and raised by his stepfather Henry
Pettiegrew after the union of him and Dorothy. Lonnie
being the eldest of seven children. (Dorothy R. Pettiegrew
(Charles Leatherwood), Henry Pettiegrew Jr. Gregory
Pettiegrew (Alice), Robert Sneed, Beverly Wallis
(Norman),Shonda Pettiegrew, He received his education at
Hattiesburg High the class of 1977. Lonnie fathered three
children. Cynthia D. Bradley the mother of Kimberly S.
Bradley (Cedrick, Anthony and Kendric Moffett) and
LaKeisha M.Bradley (Trinity Rodgers and Sevyn Roberts).
Vonnie Carter the mother of Derrick Carter. Lonnie joined
the Navy -USN in October 1977 and completed his active
duty status as a Navy Reservist in January of 1983.
Lonnie was a general steel worker that was
employed by Lersco,Inc for several years where he retired
in 2021.
He was a devoted brother, cousin, nephew, uncle,
friend, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved
his family and fishing. Lonnie had a heart of gold and would
help his family, friends and anyone that he could. Often
forsaking himself for others. Lonnie didn’t want anyone to
worry about him and he succumbed to his health issues on
December 27,2021.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, father,
grandfather Grady Edwards, and his sister Shonda
Pettiegrew and his brother Robert Sneed. He leaves behind
a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews,
cousins, friends and family.
