Obituary for Leonard J Morris
Leonard J. Morris, 78, of Hattiesburg passed away on February 19, 2021 at Hattiesburg Health and Rehab. He was born September 18, 1942 to the late Mr. LZ Morris and Mrs. Josephine Morris in Hattiesburg, MS. Leonard graduated from Earl Travilion H and work for Sears until his retirement. After retirement, he served/worked as “Grandpa” to many children at P.A.C.E Headstart.
Leonard gave his life to Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Bishop Elson James McDowell. He served as a faithful member under his pastorage at Mobile Street/Nicholson Temple Church Of God In Christ. He later joined and served at Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ under the leader ship of Pastor David Simmons. During his failing health, he worshiped and served under watch-care, at Tabernacle of Prayer Church Of God In Christ, under the leader ship of Pastor Micah Scott.
Leonard is preceded in death by his son, Gary Lenard morris of Brooklyn New York; six siblings: Eddie Morris, Elder LJ Morris, Leotis Morris, Sr., Missionary Estella Godbolt, JayW Morris, Missionary Lula Russell, and Missionary Carolyn Anne Fairley. He leaves to cherish his memory, Patrick Russell (nephew and caretaker), one brother, Elder Elmer Morris, of Las Vegas, NV, two sisters, Missionary Johnnie Jordan of Lawton Oklahoma and Missionary Clara Dodson of Atlanta, GA, three aunts, a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
