Life Reflections
Charles Edward Beasley was the second child and first son born to Andrew Beasley and
Frances Beasley-Jenkins in Wiggins, MS on October 25, 1937. Charles relocate with his
mother and siblings after his father’s death to Hattiesburg, MS. The family settled into the
small community of Palmers Crossing and made it their home. Charles attended DePriest
School located in Palmers Crossing of Hattiesburg, MS; there he received an education
spanning early childhood until high school graduation. Upon graduating, Charles-more
affectionately known to family and friends as “Sonny/Sonny Boy”-answered the nation’s call
to serve his country. In 1956, Sonny enlisted in the U.S Army as a Combat Engineer for
which he served a term of 3 years. During active duty, Charles received several accolades for
his exceptional service skills and knowledge which included but not limited to: National
Defense Service Medal. Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupational Medal (whilst in
Germany). After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the military in 1958, he spent time
in California and Chicago before returning home and beginning his career at Price Brother’s
as an Operator. After fulfilling 30 years of dutiful service, Charles retired from Price
Brothers. Sonny also served as Post Commander for 25 years at VFW Post # 5397, located in
Hattiesburg, MS.
Charles leaves to mourn and cherish a life filled with memories and countless laughs to:
sons- James O’Neal of Chicago, IL, Charles O’Neal and Tony O’Neal of Grand Rapids, MI
and Darryl(Catina) Ford of Hattiesburg, MS; three daughters- Catherine O’Neal and Cheryl
Hinton both of Hattiesburg, MS and Bobby-Sue of Grand Rapids, MI; one brother Clarence
Jenkins, one sister Evelyn Jenkins, two special nieces, yet daughters-Brandy McGowan and
Frances Jenkins all of Hattiesburg, MS; one aunt yet sister Doris(Earl) Hill of Hattiesburg,
MS; one dear and special friend Mary Porter of Hattiesburg as well as a host of loving
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other special
relatives.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Andrew Beasley and Frances Beasley-Jenkins;
siblings-Ray Beasley, Sherron Jenkins, Frank Jenkins, and most recently Rozenia Carr; as
well as one son, Frederick Beasley.

this difficult time in our lives mean more than you’ll ever know. Special thanks to Ms. Mary
Porter for her unwavering love and care for our dearest Charles ‘Sonny”; we all appreciate and
cherish your loyalty. Also from the bottom of our hearts thank you ti tge staff at the following
care facilities: Forrest General Hospital, The Asbury Hospice House and Forrest General’s
Cancer Center for the care provided to our beloved Charles. Thank you and please continue to
