Henry Mix, Jr.

Henry was born in Clarksdale, MS on October 6, 1951 to the late Savannah Holmes Mix and Henry Mix, Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS.
Henry graduated from Coahoma County High School in 1969 and attended Coahoma Junior College before being drafted into the U. S. Army. After his tour of duty in the Army, Henry attended Tennessee State University and graduated with a degree in Architectural Engineering. It was at TSU that he met and married the love of his life; also making her children his very own. Henry was employed by International Paper Company in Mobile, AL until he transferred to the Laurel, MS plant, which is Masonite Int’l. He retired from there in 1994, but those knowing Henry knows that retirement didn’t last too long. At the time of his death, he was employed with Dismas Charities in Hattiesburg, MS.
Although Henry gave his life to Christ at an early age, he became truly passionate about his walk when the family transitioned to Hattiesburg and joined True Light M. B. Church. He could be found serving in the kitchen, teaching VBS or Sunday School, driving the church van, mentoring young men in the church, as well as serving the congregation as a Deacon and Trustee. Henry truly had a passion for serving people. It was always service before self with Henry.
Henry was preceded in death by his mother ~ Savannah, his father ~ Henry, Sr., siblings, Azaleen Johnson Bush and Ronny Lee Mix and his grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving, devoted wife, Cora, children, Keith (Antoinetta Wells-Kendrick) Kendrick, Nashville, TN and Monique (Albert) Weeden, Mobile, AL; siblings; Ida Mae Mix, Silver Springs, MD and Dr. James E. Bell, Atlanta, GA; mother-in-law, Vernice Stovall, Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Wanda Faye Hill Solomon, Beverly Stovall and Wendy Stovall, all of Nashville, TN; Sonja S. King, Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law; Troy Stovall, Craig Stovall and Odie Stovall, Jr. all of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Bryce Kendrick Weeden and Evie Savannah Weeden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear devoted friends.
