Obituary for Timothy Smith

Our beloved Timothy Waldo Smith, AKA “Pappy”, was born on
September 29, 1953 in Houston, Texas as the fourth of five children to James
and Mercedes Smith. They instilled in him a solid foundation in God, family,
and compassion to help others in need. Tim’s charming smile, booming voice,
and likeable personality would draw total strangers to him. He had a heart of
gold and would do anything for anyone. He was truly loved by many and he
touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path.
Timothy grew up in Houston, Texas and attended Madison High
School. He later attended Cisco College in Cisco, Texas. He was most proud
when he began operating his own lawn service and instilled that same
entrepreneurial spirit in his children. Thirty-eight years ago, Timothy was
united in holy matrimony to Maxine L. Smith. God blessed this union with
Andrew and Jasmine, to share an abiding love with older brother and sister,
Tim Jr. and Doriann (Cookie).
After relocating to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Timothy became a member
of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a member of the deacon board. He
was active in his church and community as well. He continued his lawn
business and was also a personal security guard.
Timothy will never be forgotten. He will be greeted in heaven by his
parents, James and Mercedes Smith; his brother James “Sonny” Smith; and his
sister Geneva Smith. Timothy leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife
Maxine Smith; his brothers Ralph Smith and John Smith; his children Timothy
Smith Jr. (Della), Doriann Love, Andrew Smith (Queener), and Jasmine Smith;
grandchildren, Jerik Smith, Serena Smith, and Adrian Smith, and a host of
nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
