Obituary for Anna Clemons
Anna Louise Clemons passed away on April 3, 2019 after complications of pneumonia. She was surrounded and supported by her immediate and extended family members and friends during the last days of her life. Anna was born in Hattiesburg, MS on January 30, 1944 to the late Spellmon and Jessie Jackson of Hattiesburg, MS.
Anna grew up in Hattiesburg. Some time following graduation from Rowan High School in 1963 she relocated to Portsmouth, VA where she lived with her brother SJ and wife and young son for a little while. A few years later, she would also live in Newton, MS. Apart from these couple times away from home, Hattiesburg MS, though, would become her permanent residence.
Anna was united in holy matrimony to her soulmate Charles “Fred” Clemons on October 14, 1972. This union was blessed with three children.
Her greatest relationship with our heavenly father Jehovah God was symbolized by water baptism in Houston, Texas on July 31, 1961 at the District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. From this point on, she became a lifelong publisher of the good news of God’s Kingdom. Anna’s unending commitment to Jehovah God and his Kingdom was demonstrated by her witnessing to others in the field ministry about the Good News. In both her young adult life and later on after becoming a mother to her small children, she still accepted a greater commission in the field ministry, that of becoming a regular full-time pioneer.
Although holding such a privilege, Anna would always maintain her humility. In fact, Anna will be remembered not only for this humility but also for the deep sincere love and concern she gave to others. She was a genuine, loyal person, and also kind and unassuming. She was fully devoted to her family and friends. Her beautiful personality will forever be cherished in the lives of her family and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents Spellmon and Jessie Jackson, brothers Monroe Jackson and Spellman “SJ” Jackson Jr., and nephew Handy (Bookie) Smith, Jr.
Anna is survived by her husband of 46 years Charles “Fred” Clemons Sr., and their three children, Keturah “Renâ” (Chuck) Johnson of Hattiesburg MS, Charles (Tracy) Clemons of Ridgeland, MS, Jessica (Rayfield) Johnson of Hattiesburg, MS, one step-son Shelton (Samantha) Greer of Raleigh, North Carolina; six grandchildren Kendall, Kayla, Kelsea, Hannah, Katie and Ray Ray; one great-grandchild KJ.
Anna is also survived by her siblings Betty (Albin) Olexy of West Columbia, TX, Herman (Bertha) of Hattiesburg, MS, Hughlon (Regina) Jackson of Hattiesburg, MS, Andrew (Edna) Jackson of Hattiesburg, MS, Annette (the late Handy Smith Sr.) of Shubuta, MS, Linda (Ben) Buck of Hattiesburg, MS, sisters in-law Marcella Jackson of Hattiesburg, MS and Virginia Jackson of Hattiesburg, MS, and a host of devoted nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
