Thomas Maxie, 74, of Hattiesburg, died January 22, 2019, at Forrest General Hospital. He was born on October 4, 1944, to Thomas and Lessie Ree Maxie in Smith County. Thomas and his wife JoAnn Clinton Maxie were married on June 14, 1964 at Providence Baptist Church. He was employed by Bellsouth as a technician until his retirement. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Thomas loved playing the guitar, singing, and playing with his six grandchildren.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, two sons: Charles Maxie of Philadelphia, MS, and Clay Maxie of Montgomery, TX; one daughter, Shannon Gleason of Franklin, TN; one brother, Allen Harold Maxie and two sisters: Carolyn Edwards and Nancy Hopstein, all of Hattiesburg.
Visitation for Thomas will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 11-1:00, at Forrest Funeral Home, with the service to follow at 1:00 in Forrest Chapel. Interment will be at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
