Obituary for Richard Winston Keefer

Richard Winston Keefer 75, died on November 18, 2014, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS. Mr. Keefer was born in San Diego, CA, on September 16, 1939, to Richard Arnold Keefer and Gertrude Jane Metzger Keefer. His family lived there until his father was killed in action in WWII. The family then moved to Caribou, Maine, after his mother re-married. Mr. Keefer lived there until he enlisted in the Air Force and was transferred to Keesler Air Force Base. It was at this time that he met and married his love, Mitzey Gene Vincent Keefer, in 1959. They moved to California, and in 1975, welcomed a son, Mark Jason Keefer. Mr. Keefer started his own electronics company in 1976. After retiring in 1991, he and Mitzey moved back to Mississippi. His hobbies and pursuits involved experimental engines and many other scientific ventures.
Mr. Keefer was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mike. A devoted husband, father, and friend to all, he leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife; one son, Mark Jason Keefer and his wife, Tegan; three grandchildren: Nora, Elijah, and Simon; one sister, Jemelli; three brothers: Joe, Kian, and Greg.
Visitation will be at 9:30am on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Forrest Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:00am in Forrest Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Mr. Keefer.
