Obituary for John Alton McElroy

John Alton McElroy, 42, of Hattiesburg, passed away on August 15, 2017, at his home. He was born on December 20, 1974, to David and Sandra McElroy in Meridian, MS. He was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, a third generation plumber as well as a Jack of all trades.
John is preceded in death by his father; a sister, Stephanie McElroy; paternal grandparents, John Clarence McElroy and Evelyn Wells; maternal grandparents, Alton Jay and Helen Cobb; great grandmother, Eunice Irby. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; five children: Lauren McElroy, John David McElroy, Katie McElroy, Allison Ellis and Lauren Ellis; two siblings, David Allen McElroy and Benita Fox; his mother, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Temple Baptist Church at 10am with the service to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Temple Baptist Church Honduran Missions in John's memory.
